General Information
无忧短视频 began in 1855 as the Lancaster County Normal School to prepare teachers. It became the first state normal school in 1859, a State Teacher's College in 1927, and a State College in 1959. In 1983, the State System of Higher Education was formed, and 无忧短视频 became a multi-purpose university, 无忧短视频 of Pennsylvania. 无忧短视频 still maintains its emphasis on teacher education, but the large majority of our graduates are liberal arts majors in the sciences, computer science, nursing, and mathematics.
Our education majors take the same courses as regular science and mathematics majors, plus the extra courses in the College of Education and Human Services to be certified as teachers. The science and mathematics departments offer supplementary one-credit pedagogy seminars that complement our upper-level courses and explore methods for teaching.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has identified the preparation of mathematics and science teachers as a high demand need; there is a clear shortage of science and mathematics teachers in the Commonwealth. If you are interested in secondary school teaching, the faculty are prepared to be your mentors to introduce you to a career in teaching. Start early; become a tutor yourself in your sophomore to senior years.

Innovative Classrooms: LEGO Spike Essentials Workshop - (2 points)无忧短视频 is teaming up with S2STEM to host an engaging workshop on LEGO Spike Essentials. This hands-on learning experience combines LEGO building, coding, and robotics to teach essential STEM concepts to students.Participants will gain practical skills and strategies for incorporating these tools into their future classrooms. This is also a great opportunity to network with S2STEM employees, who are seeking talented MU graduates to help teach STEM curriculum.The workshop is ideal for pre-service BSE TECE students, iSTEM minors, and anyone passionate about STEM education.When: Tuesday, March 18th from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Excellence in STEM Designation: Designation for BSE STEM Majors!
Students majoring in BSE STEM who accumulate 45 points before graduating will be eligible for
the Excellence in STEM designation. Those who qualify may choose to wear an Excellence in
STEM graduation cord as part of their Commencement attire. This distinction is intended to
acknowledge the professional development participation of BSE STEM majors, as supported by
submitted documentation.McNairy Library Curriculum Materials Center (with a Makerspace!):MU's library has new materials that you should check out! The Juvenile Collection, now on the third floor, includes hundreds of new fiction and nonfiction titles, along with themed displays for fall events like Yoga Awareness Month and American Education Week. New curriculum kits in subjects like science, robotics, ELA, and social-emotional learning are also available, with tools for both student and teacher use. Plus, there’s a new Makerspace stocked with STEM and art supplies in Room 306, and a variety of die cuts in various shapes and sizes.
